LocalizeTranslator for Mac – LocalizeTranslator is an app for taking Localizable.strings files and translating them instantly into any language in the correct format for use directly within Xcode! Cut localization costs dramatically, and clearly present your app to the world market! Add New Strings to your existing localizations all at once in all languages. Click the translate button, and watch your Xcode project magically gain all the new strings in every language. This used to be for sale on the Mac App Store for $9.99 but is now available for $19.99 from here. I update this all the time, and it is filled with useful features.

I used to call this LocalizeTranslator 2018 on the Mac App Store. Here are some of the features in the original version:

LocalizeTranslator is an app for taking Localizable.strings files and translating them instantly into any language in the correct format for use directly within Xcode! Cut localization costs dramatically, and clearly present your app to the world market! LocalizeTranslator Supports All Google Translate API-supported Languages. There are three different ways that you can use LocalizeTranslator.

1. Translate a Localizable.strings fileFrom the main window of LocalizeTranslator, you can take a Localizable.strings file that is in your language, and you can open it in LocalizeTranslator and convert it into any language. These files can then be dropped right into the Xcode lproj folders (appropriately named), or copied/pasted into the open files in Xcode.

2. Add New Strings to your existing localizations all at once in all languagesFirst, select the “Localize and Add Strings to Project” from the Tools menu. If you would like to add some new strings to your existing translations, all you need to do is select your Xcode project folder, and that folder should already contain some .lproj folders. Next, put in the language codes of the languages you would like to add the strings in. After that, copy and paste your strings into the strings to translate text view. Last, click the translate button, and watch your Xcode project magically gain all the new strings in every language.

3. Localize App Store MetadataSelect the “Localize Metadata” option from the Tools menu. From here, you can enter in all of the metadata from your app. Once it is entered, you can click “Save Metadata” so it is there on next app use. There are two main ways to localize your metadata: copying and pasting manually into App Store Connect, or you can use the Fastlane option.
LocalizeTranslator uses the Google Translate API *costs per character

This entire program works perfectly except for the “Fastlane” option, which would take translated App Store metadata and automatically upload it into App Store Connect. Fastlane kept changing, so I stopped supporting this feature. It might work if you have an older version of Fastlane from 2018 on your computer.

I also added multiple new features into LocalizeTranslator that were not on the Mac App Store version.

Original Features (LocalizeTranslator 2018):

• .strings File Translator: Take a .strings file, when a project is not yet localized, and generate a new .strings file for every chosen language

• Add Strings to Xcode Project: once your project has multiple localizations, but you want to add more strings, choose your project folder, add your new strings, and LocalizeTranslator will automatically insert them all into your strings files

• Localize Apple Metadata: Insert your app name, description, keywords, and all other metadata strings, and LocalizeTranslator will make translations of them into all chosen languages.

New Features (LocalizeTranslator 2023):

Web Page Translator: This tool extracts text from multiple HTML files, translates it, and places it into localized HTML files that can be used with the Apache Server localization system or in another localized HTML configuration.

Simple Strings Localizer: This tool takes a plain text file that contains many different strings/phrases, and it exports this file to a translated file for every language you would like.

Android Strings Localizer: This tool takes an Android development strings file in xml and exports it into multiple different chosen languages.

I wrote an instruction manual for LocalizeTranslator back in 2018. It is very simple to use if you are a seasoned software developer, but otherwise it might be very confusing. This instruction manual covers the first topics in LocalizeTranslator, including how to use gcloud (Google Cloud command line utility) to get an API Token for the Google Translate API so that LocalizeTranslator can connect to it.

LocalizeTranslator has worked perfectly for me in every situation, every day, for many years straight. It is one of my favorite tools. I am attaching two instruction manuals. One is for the original version of LocalizeTranslator, and the second manual is a simple guide to the new features in LocalizeTranslator 2023.

This app used to be available on the Mac App Store, but it was removed without a specific reason. I am uploading this app without the sandbox or Developer ID certificate, so before purchasing, please understand that this app is not signed and will require option-clicking to open it.
